"i have a problem where my program that generates plausible nonsense is generating plausible nonsense, so to fix this, i have another program that generates plausible nonsense read the plausible nonsense from the first program and tells me whether or not the first bit of garbage is real" — very serious people telling me that their program to generate plausible nonsense "works"
There used to be such an interesting theme ecosystem for stuff. There used to be constantly interesting and innovative window-manager and DE themes. WinAmp existed.
And not just themes. Music players had visualizers, and an active community producing new and interesting ones. There used to constantly be new screensavers pushing the capabilities of new hardware/OS facilities/etc.
These things are just... gone. Stagnant, or completely removed.
Behind every "AI gone rogue" or "AI breaks out" or "AI hacks into" headline is someone - a real human - who is not being held accountable for their terrible work performance because we've anthropomorphised a technology.
Media needs to get this story straight as soon as possible.
adjö Tidö!!!
the preliminary vote count is finally over and the left-wing parties + the centre party have a three-seat majority with a more than 50,000 vote difference
🥳
SVT's live visualisation of how today's counting of late-arriving votes affects the seat distribution is super cool. it's fun to watch (I say in a thread that was supposedly about Not keeping up with the election. oh well)
business school isn't actually teaching you a science. It's teaching you an ideology.
It exists to produce the managerial class - enforcers of capital who normalize the idea that "profit" is the natural goal of human existence, rather than a parasitic extraction.
