@SRAZKVT “Ok, vroomer” sounds like a perfect retort to any car-brained person opposing bike lanes, sidewalks, public transit, etc.
Yesterday in my intro programming course, the last day before fall break, we talked about LLMs. I explained how they work and what the implications are for what they can and cannot do. I told them that I have made an intentional decision not to use them at all, and gave a presentation/rant/impassioned plea explaining six arguments why I think they should not use LLMs either. (The six arguments are designed to appeal to different students depending on what they value most; there are arguments from learning, correctness, economics, the environment, justice, and mental health.)
They asked a ton of fantastic questions and we ran out of time for the quiz that was supposed to happen because of the resulting spirited discussion.
The kids these days are alright!
OCT. 15, 1902: CHEMIST WARNS BURNING COAL MAY LEAD TO BOILING EARTH
Swedish chemist Svante Arrhenius calculated that burning fossil fuels (coal) will, over time, lead to a hotter Earth. His findings led the way for the emergence of modern climate science and a better understanding of the greenhouse effect.

I’m not concerned with the proprietary login problem because I already live that world. All of Sweden runs on a proprietary, shit implementation of passkeys called BankID where the word bank is just as bad as you think it is.

I’ve read the rebuttal and I think passkeys are a trap because my experience with them, not because of any of the arguments here. It’s really simple. I have my passkeys in 1Password because they need to be on 3 computers and 3 mobile devices.
Recently 1Password went fash so I’d like to leave. Exporting passkeys turns out to be the worst kind of impossible. It can’t be done, AND realising that was a two-day research hole.
THAT’S the trap I’m concerned with.

New Blog: Programming Isn't Special
Artists understand that AI is bad for art. Why don’t programmers understand that we are artists?

”Det är mycket prat om röda linjer. Men för mig är det många röda linjer som redan har passerats de senaste åren. Vi har exempelvis inte skyddat en elvaårig flicka mot könsstympning eller en tioårig flicka att skiljas från sin familj.”
