oh cool, Rust embeds your full username in binaries no matter what flags you use, even in release builds, and even after stripping symbols with strip
the suggested "solution"? build in a docker container or change your username 🤡 🤡

What the Hachette v. Internet Archive decision means for our library: https://blog.archive.org/2023/08/17/what-the-hachette-v-internet-archive-decision-means-for-our-library/ #DigitalRightsForLibraries
@emma It is vastly cheaper to give a benefit to everyone and then tax that amount from rich people than it is to run the massive bureaucracy of means testing.
So before you start on with "why do rich kids get their breakfast paid for too? How come it's not means tested…" about Pennsylvania's new school lunch program.
Here's a thing.
There are plenty of rich and middle class parents who withhold food from their kids as punishment, religious nonsense, or to coerce behaviors. News flash: family can be downright evil.
Also means testing is just a fancy way to exclude the poor.
Every kid, every person, has a right to three squares a day.
If you're so upset, push to raise taxes on those rich parents.
@0xabad1dea "JSON? That JavaScript thing? Nobody uses that, it's all XML."
The monkey's paw at the heart of the time machine lowers one finger.
The time traveler had started with something so small it couldn’t possibly hurt anything: the spelling of the name of some fictional bears. The timeline held. Next, they tampered with some movies. Still no butterfly effect, so far so good. Now it was time to alter something important, something worthwhile. Something that would improve the world.
The traveler nervously approaches someone in the present after emerging from the machine. “Tell me… does json support comments?”
This news has caused some people to ask why "women's chess" even exists -- women can compete in the open tournament. The women's competitions were a recognition of just how far behind chess is when it comes to cultivating and welcoming female players.
Not that shocking they are even more far behind when it comes to even knowing what that would mean. (eg not excluding trans women.)
But all this misses the bigger point. They don't want any trans people at all in their games.
This has mostly been reported as "trans women banned from women's chess" but it's much more sinister. (as if it weren't already.)
ALL trans people are targeted by this ruling. Trans men will be stripped of all chess titles won, which can only be returned to them by “changing the gender back to a woman” (from the ICF’s ruling). ALL transgender chess players will be marked as trans in their files.
If you play or know anyone who does take a stand on this. It's ugly.
Lately, I've seen a lot of publishers/developers using machine translation to localize their store descriptions and/or achievements. This is doing more harm than just leaving them in English! If I saw such a description, I would assume that the whole game looks like this and, therefore, not buy it. And it's particularly annoying for the game's translators, as players may assume they're responsible. Please don't do it. Thanks! 🙏
my solution for inheritance works perfectly 😤 and it's beautiful 🥺 https://github.com/hikari-no-yume/touchHLE/commit/c6837f4eaf7ad61655aee09d268780adbe19081f
I CAN FINALLY TALK ABOUT SECRET PROJECT!
My dear friend and colleague, Jamie Garner, and I are now OFFICIALLY under contract to write and publish a scholarly book on the rhetoric and cultural retransmission of transgender comics, particularly webcomics! Yes, this is an outgrowth of "Can I Offer You An Egg In These Trying Times," and I'm delighted and excited to get to work writing a whole book on why the Queerantine flood of trans comics was something really special.
Trans woman, bisexual, someone's fiancée, forever a programmer, poly, and former total mess
