Gender is a lot like operating systems. People always assume you use one of the two big proprietary ones and if you don't, you're gonna have to deal with a lot of confusion and compatibility issues. instead of a manually curated "app compatibility list", there's now a database that anyone can contribute to. if you find an iPhone OS 2.x app that works, you can add it!

some notes:

• all reports are moderated before they become public
• as a precautionary measure, you can't submit a new report if your previous report hasn't been approved yet. I know this is annoying, sorry. I may adjust this down the road if all goes well.
• you can upload screenshots! yay
• please bear in mind that it's more useful to know about working apps than broken ones, and you should only test apps that have a chance of working (iOS 2 apps)

starting a project with a fake name policy. if you have an avatar that is a picture of your real face or your screen name is just your real name, you can't contribute

so, a friend has been trying to learn to program for the past year and a half or so, by doing coding puzzles. I've helped her a bit! when she wanted a bigger project, she started writing QR code generator entirely from scratch, in Rust, which is incredibly tricky. and look!! 😭

this is just an incredibly impressive feat to me, all things considered.

20 months ago she had no idea what a trait, or a generic type, or move/copy, or mutable reference, or lifetime, or were, and she definitely couldn't have written this then. it's so cool to watch someone you know learn a new skill!!!

(especially considering that there were long periods where she had to take a break from learning for various reasons)

one of these is the leaked official, original source code of Pokemon Emerald and one of these is a decompile made by hobbyists trying to reverse engineer what the game is doing
