American physicist and chemist Katharine Burr Blodgett was born #OTD in 1898.
She was the inventor of a technique for making non-reflecting "invisible" glass, a material used in virtually all camera lenses & many other optical devices. She was also responsible for developing an instrument that can measure film thicknesses to within a few angstroms. She did research on methods of removing ice from airplane wings. She is also credited with the development of a new type of smoke screen.
holy shit, a C/C++ compiler for Vulkan that supports graphics features and doesn't disallow function pointers
it's extremely cool. i feel that kind of envy about it that comes from familiarity with the problem domain and wishing i'd had the ambition
2. This did not begin with Musk. I would date attempts to transform Twitter into a tool exclusively for the far right to Gamergate ten years ago (and the earlier racist harassment ops by the same actors that lead up to it). Online harassment is a form of censorship, harassment is a free speech issue, and the far right tried various methods for deplatforming their enemies in online community spaces for years before the idea of simply buying the websites occurred to them.
Smoking a cigarette as I bring developers into my office to administer the Complexity Voight-Kampff test. My inflection is flat as I as start to speak. “You’re in Slack. You see a team architecting a new app around Kubernetes. An engineer proposes simple tools to manage the process instead. They want to convince them, but they can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that, Leon?” They shoot me dead from under the table every time.
Hi! If you're finding me, this is a stress test of the ActivityPub ecosystem's IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) support.
It isn't great! The software works fine, but mentioning this account on Pleroma/Akkoma right now is impossible with Markdown, unless you change the TLD to Hiragana (minna in romaji)
Other software seems to handle it alright, switching between without effort.

IDNs are rare; you likely will never see this in the wild! The whole "xn--" prefix is by design, this is how the internet "ASCII"-ifies domains that aren't plain ASCII.
I am not breaking your instance. Your client is fine. It's doing its best. Even if it adds an emoji.
Love you~
@anarchiv "average person owns 14 Thinkpads" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person only has 1 Thinkpad. Thinkpad Hans, who lives in Stuttgart & owns over 10000 Thinkpads, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
