Whenever I think of Mary Anning, I think fondly of this old comic by Kate Beaton harkavagrant.com/index.php?id=

Happy birthday to #paleontologist Mary Anning (1799 –1847)! She was the wrong class, sex & religious denomination to gain the education, opportunity to work & communicate her results or garner any respect as a pioneering paleontologist. Further, during her lifetime most people thought Earth was a mere few thousand years old, based on a very literal interpretation of the Bible & found the idea of extinction did not fit in with the story of creation. 🧵1/

We've adopted saying "for morale" rather than "as a treat".

e.g.,

  • Having a nap for morale.
  • Eating ice cream for morale.
  • Spending time relaxing with my wife for morale.

Turns out we do a lot of things for morale.

bad idea that just might work: a podcast where instead of linking to an audio or video file it links to an executable and it allows you to subscribe to a feed with cute little mini-games
