A new identity theft service launched on the dark web this week is selling digital scans of more than 153 million drivers licenses from people in the United States and Canada. Based on interviews with individuals whose licenses are available for purchase on this service, it appears to be siphoning images collected by a widely-used identity verification company based in Louisiana. KrebsOnSecurity also has learned that the New Orleans field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) today launched an official inquiry into the source of the images.

Pretty fun that this year Rust seems to be on track to stabilize multiple decades*-long initiatives:

- the new borrow checker
- the new trait solver

Rust's backward-compat guarantees mean it's essentially reassembling the plane mid-flight at all time, and I really appreciate the engineering effort that has goes into that.

Today I learned that in 1971, activists planned a "shit-in" to disrupt the Chicago O'Hare airport by occupying every bathroom stall and urinal. They did not actually execute the protest because just the threat of it brought City Hall to the negotiating table.
