I'm organising a home #EPC as I need one for an assessment for a heat pump grant. The old one (the previous owners took out to sell the house) expired in 2019. The old one met all the requirements, though, and the house certainly hasn't had any of those measures removed.

It does make me wonder why the 10 year expiry was chosen. Yes, things can change (in fact, we have changed many of the items being assessed, and expect to be in at least one, possibly two levels higher). But do people make changes to reduce the score? And given our assessment is only against insulation, I'd have thought that would be sufficient.

Still, this is very much a first world problem, and if we need it again within 10 years we'll have it.

@dh Good luck! Hope it goes well and you can get the grant! :)

@renbymon Thanks very much! We're going to wait until next year to decide, as we want to see the performance characteristics of the solar PV generation over the winter first. But if all look good we want to move to a heat pump, then replace the gas hob with induction and cut our gas supply off completely.

@dh We want to do the same here in the end, but want to look into solar first to supplement everything else.

@renbymon We had our array installed a few months ago. If you've got any questions, feel free to send them over and I'll do my best to answer them as honestly as possible.
