@Dex yeah the NHS route is just so long here and I'm not getting any younger. The thought of having to wait until I'm 43 before my first appointment is really horrible to think about.
@renbymon yeah, for us it was the fact that i don’t think we’ve got a route from the lived experience requirement + the UK not legally recognizing non-binary genders; the only way it’d happen would be with pretending to be high femme
and with the local gender identity clinics, we’d be waiting 5+ years by current waitlists
@renbymon if you’ve done the research and can afford it, i can pretty confidently say we regret not going for it earlier, and it’s not like there’s any chance of reform bringing in informed consent any time soon or fixing the many problems with trying to wait for the NHS
