Windows can be so friggin insufferable istg
Linux can be stressful because when shit breaks only sometimes does it give useful errors but they take a lot of mental bandwidth to decode, and it just takes a LOT of manual tweaking to make things work
macOS generally Just Worked and didn't give me near this much friggin grief
@dragonarchitect I think it's a "how brains are wired" or maybe exposure thing? I've always found the Windows errors to be 100% indecipherable (and most Windows experts on the official help sites end up arguing about what a particular fault code can mean) and trying to troubleshoot a fault is a case of seeing what sticks to the wall.
Linux has been the only flavour of OS that I actually wrap my head around and troubleshoot to some degree. Granted I only use Debian and Gentoo so YMMV.
@dragonarchitect MacOS I haven't used enough to form an opinion, but I did not have a fun time using xcode.
@dragonarchitect I tried to install some FOSS software (I don't remember which) on my MacBook Air and it needed Xcode to be able to install it. I had so much trouble that I just gave up.
I'm using Windows as my daily driver, but once Win10 is over I'll be switching entirely to Linux for my home system and that'll be that. Still gonna keep my MacBook air though as I use it for DJing and will probably need it or something similar for support of things in the future.
@dragonarchitect @renbymon The initial install/acceptance stuff with Xcode can be a PITA. It often ends up taking quite a long time to download (longer than you think it should be), and then on almost every update to macOS seems like you have to do the same thing again.
@renbymon I do remember needing xcode for some applications that I used, but I don't really recall it giving me much trouble so I wonder if it's one of those YMMV things. o.o
