Tried to do some stuff with APRS today but I had it set up wrong so nothing got transmitted while I was driving, lol
Sorted it all out now and gonna try again on Tuesday/Wednesday eve.
Really want to have an amateur radio in the car. Pretty much settled on what model I want but want to test out some stuff first.
@renbymon I thought about it, but the roof of my car is polycarbonate so the mag mount won't work, also no ground plane!
@andrew Mine is from 2010 so still made of metal. Got the antenna clamped to the rear boot hatch.
@renbymon The smart has a big whip antenna on the front left. I wonder if I can use that mounting point and replace it with a nice big 2m band one and route some coax inside. ;p
@andrew Sounds like a plan! The other alternative is maybe to put some ground radials beneath the head liner if you do get an antenna through the roof
