Sometimes, a cynical part of me wonders if the push to denormalise smoking had less to do with public health and more to do with 'enhancing productivity of workers'.
I wonder how much burn out is down to people not having an easily indulgable, socially acceptable vice, they can indulge durging the workday.
Don't smoke though, like, find a vice that's less damaging to your health. Like, maybe just step outside and dissociate for 5 mins, or something. I don't know, i'm not making policy, I'm just tired.

@garrwolfdog As someone who did smoke and has stopped I 100% used it as a vice to help me relax from a really stressful job, as did many of my peers, because it was a socially acceptable and immediate way of self-medicating.

@renbymon yeeeeeah, I very much self medicated with alcohol for a looong time. I think everyone in my industry does to some degree.
It's probably not a good sign about modern culture that we need to selfmedicate so much XD
