IT literacy is getting worse. There is little doubt of this now. A whole generation that are being taught to use products rather than operate computers.
@avon_deer Honestly this was inevitable. The writing was on the wall when MS decided Windows 8 was a good idea; they were just ahead of the times. Had it released a few years later I reckon more people would have loved the Metro layout.
Also schools don't have enough funding to teach proper computer classes so they just end up being product training rather than literacy.
@renbymon Kids know how to use pads. Very few of them know what a directory structure is. Which is really basic stuff to be honest. and I agree with you. This was deliberate.
@avon_deer It's kind of a failing of education as an institution to provide actual literacy programs, not just in IT but also in media.
The amount of people I meet at work who don't even know where they save their work, because Windows obfuscates it, is staggering and always ends up a problem when they can't find their very important files.
@avon_deer But then again it was like this when we were young; progress has not helped people.
