My Renasona timeline:
On seeing Renamon, mid-00s: "Oh gosh is hot, I'd love to be them."
On seeing all the porn: "Okay this is really hot and affirming, but I don't want people to think I'm doing this for a sex thing. Besides I'm male."
Me now, knowing I'm trans: "RenaMILF life goal~"

My werewolf timeline:
Mid 90s, hanging out with some Wiccan friends: "Oh dang what are these wolf feelings?"
Late 90s: "Yeah definitely some werewolf there but I feel so at odds with myself. Oh this Werewolf RPG is speaking to me a lot.
Late-00s: "I feel werewolf but also at the same time wrong and that I'm a fraud; what the hell is wrong with me??"
Now: "It's because I'm trans and I spent the last two decades denying it. I'm a werewolf woman!"

Things to take away:
- Self-identity is weird, complicated, and often very fuzzy; just take your time!
- It's okay to be more than one thing at a time!
- It's also okay if you don't feel a certain way for a while!

@renbymon "it's okay to be more than one thing at a time" is why I'm now gaytur/snek/derg.
