tf, you

Staying in a castle run by kobolds.
They seem pretty excited,
and they do everything:
looking after the grounds,
warming the pool,
making your dinner,
(it's really good,)
tidying your room--

Oh. That's a bed of gold coins?

Trust us, they say, in chorus;
it's better than it seems,
really good for your posture,
you'll wake up feeling like new~!

And for you, genre-aware,
it's a hard bed at first,
but they're right,
it grows on you,
like those scales,
wings, claws, size... 🐉💚

Ukpol, rant

Rishi Sunak's resignation speech makes me sick; saying he's thankful of the tolerance of Britain, all whilst pursuing some of the worst policies against marginalised peoples.

re: UK politics

@tryst @ret @philpem
"We keep taking in asylum seekers and refugees but we don't house homeless people."
"We can do both; it's not a zero sum game."
"Where do we get the money for that??"
"Put them in unoccupied homes."
"But that's robbing from the rich!!! What if they all left?"
"The majority of wealth is tied up in assets; if they leave the country then buildings are still here. They can't physically take them out of Britain."

re: UK politics

@tryst @ret @philpem I ran into some 20 somethings earlier today who had totally bought the reform scam. I feel kinda sad for them because their hearts were in the right place (concerns about cost of living, the unhoused, etc) but however I tried to explain that these problems are caused by the wealthy they just didn't want to listen and kept blaming migrants.
They weren't being intimidating but they also seemed to genuinly believed what they were saying.

turns out on the google clock if you dont let the animation finish before pressing okay itll choose whatever time the minute hand happens to land on, so you can very easily accidentally set your alarm almost an hour after you meant to. whoever implemented this deserves to be shot

iVoted. Thankfully in a safe Labour seat so I was able to vote Green without worry.

I don't agree with all of the Green's policies (nuclear power, HS2) but I'm willing to meet them halfway because of their stance on trans rights.

I'm so sick of cynical hero narratives. your hero can actually just be a good person who wants to help people and there is a wealth of stories you can tell with that. it's more realistic than having to do mental gymnastics every time you need to justify your jaded misanthropic asshole doing something good for someone else

@Bowsette It's looking like a Labour gain for your constituency, at least.

Since I was unable to find the restore media for this super cool little Vaio, I thought I’d see if I could use some kind of solid state media to replace the HDD, but it uses this weird CF type ATA 100 interface. I couldn’t get it to play nice with any of the CF cards I have. The HDD seems to have some minor issues. I was able to backup the files to a USB drive, then CD boot Clonezilla and make a full backup of the HDD. I was able to find a new old stock of the same 40GB HDD for a good price on eBay but only make the purchase after Clonezilla was able to successfully make and verify the image. Now I sit and wait. Put the machine back together. Next time I take it apart I wanna lube the hinge, add some epoxy to some of the hinge plastics and repaste the CPU.

Someone needs to do a cover of Ebeneezer Goode but instead of ecstacy it's about estradiol
