Happy Halloween, y'all! Reaching all the way back to 1996 for this photo of Ysengrin at Haunted Verdun Manor.

#Halloween #Werewolf #Haunt #VerdunManor

I fancy going swimming later.

Many thanks to my dear friend @vulpine for this birthday gift <3

Gonna check it out in about an hour, 8GMT

@tryst Honestly that doesn't surprise me; all the ILR stations around where I live have been subsumed into Bauer and Global and all have the same feeds.

I'm so thankful for the community stations. Been thinking about volunteering at one of them.

Thankfully in my area there are two stations that I regularly listen to, which aren't part of Bauer or Global (the two big chains in the UK), one of them being your standard community radio station and the other being a station for proper electronic dance music.

You've gotta support your local stations, even if it's just by listening to them. If you don't then all the local stuff will just disappear.

@PsyChuan Sorry had to rewrite the prev toot.

If you stick a second USB key in does it recognise that okay?

@PsyChuan @PsyChuan Just a quick google suggests that those devices default to using RST for the SATA mode, which still isn't super supported under Linux. If you can change it to AHCI then the OS should be able to read/write to it properly.

The option should be on the main screen of the BIOS, but you might need to tap Ctrl+S to see it

Literally every public health effort that helps queers not die from STI's will be met by people who want to shit on it or second-guess its efficacy or appropriateness or something

For "non homophobic" reasons ofc

Doxycycline: widely prescribed for acne

(No one cares)

Doxycycline: used on a prophylactic basis against STI's by the queers

Everyone: omg we really gotta think about antibiotic resistance in this case and ration drugs like these for important use cases, and not just queers

the decimation of locally-produced broadcast radio continues apace

timesunion.com/business/articl

gonna end up with nothing but three bash scripts being run by three corporate juggernauts all churning out jack fm playlists from coast to coast. the worst.

furry porn meta, different one

@PsyChuan I've never liked that, nor the bullying kink, that kinda shit is traumatic to me

The corporate capture of the airwaves might seem like a third-rate issue to be all hot and bothered about, particularly if you don't remember what the broadcast environment was like in the 1970s and the 1980s (and earlier, I assume, but I have no personal reference for).

having people from your local community be the ones who are broadcasting news and entertainment for your community is a big deal! it's representation and it's focused on the needs of your community. it's not a platform for ad sales, it's a communications channel, a commonality, a way to bring people together.

the broadcast realm is as much a third place voidspace as this fediverse of ours is, but it's been entirely contained by the oligarchs whomst hoard. a big part of me thinks if we could reclaim that voidspace again we'd be well on our way to fixing a lot of what's fucked, but I lean towards that space and am definitely biased. but, consider the possibilities...

So this was cool. We had 2 #playstation ‘s setup with a serial link on 2 TV’s at the #pawcon #pawcon2024 lan party. I didn’t even know the PlayStation had any kind of link till this year. Not many games supported it. Each PlayStation can host up to 2 players for a max of 4 players in Wipeout 3. It’s a little fiddly to setup but super fun. #retrogaming

clive & wrench

this is a bit janky as 3d platformers go, but also a solo dev
(at least some of the jank is in the player’s favour with jumping higher than they should)

it is also very much “REFERENCE: the game”, but honestly, if you’re going to go out of your way to specifically reference the time travel sequence from bugs bunny: lost in time as well as bodger & badger, i have to at least be a little impressed

@nautilee @errant Even then I'd still love to get back into the game and volunteer to do some ratting

And despite not being "formally" a part of the game, the fuel rats have become ingrained in Elite's lore and playerbase. It's known, pervasively, that the fuel rats exist, and that if you put out a distress signal, they _will_ come help you, come what may.

Occasionally, griefers put out false flags and attack the fuel rats that come to them. With no explicit coordination, this immediately became the most reviled form of piracy, in a game where piracy is broadly considered okay.

The thing I find remarkable about this, is that the Fuel Rats aren't a game feature. There are no rewards for being a fuel rat (in fact, it's policy to refuse payment if the recuee offers), except the intrinsic reward of helping people have a nice time.

Despite this, the fuel rats were one of the first "guilds" formed, if you want to call them that, and have been going strong for years. According to their stats, they have rescued 157 thousand stranded players, with a 96% success rate.
