@DeltaWye @philpem @tryst @DarkOverord Granted we've just been using WD Red Plus drives in an home NAS but they've been fine for us. We did have one drive fail earlier this year but WD RMAd the drive pretty quickly and they've all been fine.

@Lazerus101 @tryst @DarkOverord I guess that really depends on what the budget is. If you've got an old machine (2 core x64, 8GB ram, 16gb SSD) you can press that into service as a NAS with just two identically sized NAS drives, which is where the main cost comes from.

@Lazerus101 @tryst @DarkOverord That depends on if you want to buy a prebuilt NAS or if you're happy to build one yourself, and how much total storage space you need.

@tryst @DarkOverord 100% seconded on running a NAS for file storage nowadays, especially one with a RAID array for redundancy.

@philpem I'm not sure it's power but there's some lag somewhere in the emulation. I tried WinUAE and FS-UAE on a couple of machines and got similar amounts of latency.

I'll still give a Pi 4 and Pi 5 a shot :)

@philpem I spent a bit of time yesterday working out exactly what buttons are needed and it just needs either 24 buttons or 21 and a push button rotary encoder.

I wanted to use a raspberry pi originally to save on cost and space, but now that the pi is out of the running (until something more real time with the emulation is developed I'm back to something more traditionall CDJ sized.

I guess as it stands right now the cheapest way to do what I want to do is to get an A600 motherboard and stick it into a CDJ like box. It'd certainly fit but on top of that it's working out how to do the controls as the software uses the keyboard.

My recent brain plan has been to try and make an Amiga "CDJ" using a raspberry pi and the Amiga software PT-1210, but the emulation isn't as responsive as actual hardware and for DJing that's an important problem.
