yes it’s capitalism. but i give this one a pass, for now.

and, writing the whole alt text brings tears to my eyes.

@trans_lykanthropie It's great for a lazy Sunday, thank you *-just lays there with you on top me and relaxes under the sun-* ❤️

@trans_lykanthropie Ohh that's a great idea! *-walks over to a very big field and lays down, slowly so you can move around my shoulder without falling off-*

@trans_lykanthropie *-gently pets with my big paw, smiling happily at having a nice friend sitting on my shoulder-* ❤️

I need to be very clear, that the push towards "vibe coding" - that is, deliberately deskilling people - is because AI code assistants are an (increasingly expensive) subscription service.

If you know how to code, you can just write Python, C, Java, R, PHP, whatever for free and make things. You may not own the tools of production, but at least you're not renting them.

If you have been deskilled so you only know how to vibe code, you will be paying for that privilege forever.

This also goes, by the way, for researchers who are starting to be convinced they don't need to learn how to be scientists anymore, because "the AI" can just do the science for them. Nope.

petition.parliament.uk/petitio is up to 72k signatures.

I do...have very, very meagre hopes of this doing anything meaningful. The UK Petitions system is mostly a way for the government to say "ah, no, see, let us explain our position again because you clearly don't understand" in a way very familiar to anyone who's tried the same through corporate employee feedback/Q&A channels. But conversely if you're a UK citizen or resident the actual data requirement you need to give is small in scope.

This is the most helpfully packaged box of screws I've ever seen, by a large margin. I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate whomever was responsible for such a triumph of utility and empathy.

Nearly started crying in the middle of the high street when I saw the window of Lush today.

In better news, Lush is standing up.

I even bought a bath bomb - I don't do baths... And there is a leaflet I will look through soon. I said thanks to the staff for having the display
