I'm so sick of cynical hero narratives. your hero can actually just be a good person who wants to help people and there is a wealth of stories you can tell with that. it's more realistic than having to do mental gymnastics every time you need to justify your jaded misanthropic asshole doing something good for someone else

Since I was unable to find the restore media for this super cool little Vaio, I thought I’d see if I could use some kind of solid state media to replace the HDD, but it uses this weird CF type ATA 100 interface. I couldn’t get it to play nice with any of the CF cards I have. The HDD seems to have some minor issues. I was able to backup the files to a USB drive, then CD boot Clonezilla and make a full backup of the HDD. I was able to find a new old stock of the same 40GB HDD for a good price on eBay but only make the purchase after Clonezilla was able to successfully make and verify the image. Now I sit and wait. Put the machine back together. Next time I take it apart I wanna lube the hinge, add some epoxy to some of the hinge plastics and repaste the CPU.

Someone needs to do a cover of Ebeneezer Goode but instead of ecstacy it's about estradiol

UK Pol, SDP manifesto, transphobia and culture war dogwhistles

Reading the Social Democrat Party's manifesto has be slamming the "Citation Needed" button on them calling themselves "social democrats" when they have an entire page about "Sex Based Rights" and the rest is full of culture war dogwhistles.

So, unfortunately, for the water companies, the UK Supreme Court has ruled that owners of assets & properties can seek redress for the dumping of sewage into their water courses (in a case brought by Manchester Ship Canal & supported by @goodlawproject). Previously the water firms had argued only the regulator could bring such actions!

So, the water sector could be about to find itself mired in a torrent of legal actions resulting from unregulated sewage discharges.

Good!

How to tell you've been online since the dialup days:
You feel a compulsive need to watch downloads in-case the connection drops out at 97%.

Here they are the Xenias ready to fly anywhere 💰🐾

After a year of shaving with a foil type electric shaver, and being frustrated at how bad it was at dealing with my neck hair, I decided to get a rotary type one instead and it's giving me a much closer shave and making me feel a lot better about my face!!

It is July and that makes it Disability Pride Month—not Queer Wrath Month,

I fly the disability pride flag because ADHD is very much a neurocognitive demon that I've grappled with every day of my life so far and will continue to grapple every day going forward. I've literally lost out on a college degree and jobs because of it.

I am not officially diagnosed, either, so I currently do not have a means to manage it.

Not all disabilities are visible. Be honest with yourself and others. 🖤💚💙🤍💛❤️🖤

For those unaware it looks like there's a new OpenSSH server vulnerability. There's an embargo on what it is but most Linux distros have pushed a fix so doing an upgrade right now is probably a good idea.

Not that we needed any, but the Scottish author's love and subsequent failure to understand Lolita is all the proof you need that she's a right-wing horrorshow.
