Unfriendly reminder that as someone who had to wait until I was an adult to transition, I have no childhood. The nostalgia for high school you all take for granted doesn't exist for people who didn't get to be themselves. Transitioning in childhood is a blessing, not a curse.

The fear you have about a cis person accidentally transing themselves and what it'd feel like? That's exactly how trans kids who can't transition feel.

Sometimes, even in purportedly transfeminist spaces I'll hear shit like "you shouldn't voice train, you should love your natural voice" or "you shouldn't shave your legs you should appreciate your natural leg hair the way cis feminists do" and it all feels predicated on the idea that the puberty I went through was "natural". And like, when you put aside the artificialness of the natural/artificial binary, you can still make a good argument that the puberty I went through was not natural at all. Yes it was the product of letting my hormones do their thing unassisted, but it was also the product of the deliberate suppression of transgender medicine, in a modern world where all of my other medical needs are taken care of. The puberty I went through was just as much the result of Nazi book burnings and Reagan's murderous AIDS policies as it was the result of my physiology.

Witholding information about trans identities and medical transition is a choice. Excluding the option of puberty blockers from puberty education is a choice. Raising children to believe that gender and puberty are things that simply happen to them is a choice.
