will the real X please stand up, please stand up, please stand up

The little things are really good.

Came into work today and coworker is back in the office, after a fortnight off, and he asks me if everything went okay coming out as trans to my manager.

Really glad that my coworkers are supportive!

Someone should come up with a way to take static information stored in flat files and serve them over the internet to client software that interprets the markup language in the text to render the information as a page on the screen. There could even be a special tag for text that directs the client to another page when the user clicks on it. It would be far better than using chat clients to store documentation. I'm surprised nobody has thought of it yet.

Friendly reminder: you can follow hashtags and get the content you want directly in your feed!
Friendly reminder 2: you can block or mute someone producing content you don't like and never have to see their content regardless of tags you follow!

"mastodon is bad, the people there are bad"

Every social media site, no matter who runs it, is going to be absolute dogshit if you don't curate your feed. If they breathe too loud? Hit the blocks.

I do to Mastodon what I do to Twitter, and it's pretty good.

I'm really bad at picking up the signs that people make towards me, but looking back I can see that there were some who knew that I'm trans back when I was in my late teens/early 20s.

I knew I was trans back then but I kept telling myself bad things and that led to some really self-destructive things.

Glad that today I can say that I'm happy with who I am and I know that I'm a girl. 💜🏳️‍⚧️

reminder for everyone who may have missed it the last few times

the only reason that brave browser exists is because its ceo was kicked from mozilla for being a homophobe & transphobe

by contuing to use that software you are activity supporting and promoting a company that not only hates lgbtqia+ people but was born out of that bigotry

brave browser is also filled with many not very cool things everything from cryptocurrency scams to link redirection to so much more

there are tones of other chromium , webkit , or firefox based browsers that do can do most everything that brave browser can do or more in terms of "privacy" and just as much or more on terms of useability

please i urge anyone who cares enough about these things to have installed brave in the first place to migrate form brave to something better

heres some good alternatives to try

firefox , chromium , librewolf , ungoogled-chromium , gnone web, kde falkon , qutebrowser , tor browser, thats just a few tho id mostly suggest one of either ff, ch, lw, unch

New folks coming into the Mastodon thing: please for the love of heavens, add a profile image, a description in your bio, and an # introduction post with the hashtag.

If you're trying to follow folks on here without that? Chances are you're not gonna have much luck; the vibe is different here and most folks curate their follows carefully.

So do yourself a REALLY big favor for getting started here and fill out your profile. PLEASE.

Order some swatches for my Tali cosplay! Gonna take a couple of weeks to arrive but they will help me decide which pattern and fabric I want to use! ^^

Did six hours of driving today (for a BBQ) and wore my skirt all day. Was really nice <3

3D printing itself has been a little delayed as I'm going to a BBQ this weekend (with a three hour trip each way, lol) and I'm going to be dying my hair again tonight!

Got a new motherboard for the 3D printing arriving today and that'll need firmwwre compiled for it.

If all goes well then I can start printing again on Sunday!

#introductions We cobbled together a free-to-use dialup ISP out of trash and spare parts. dialup.world is composed of four modems for simultaneous connections delivering speeds up to 33.6K.

This is currently a bunch of USR Sportsters hooked into Linux, but we are currently working on setups with Cisco gear, as well as some musings in 56K, other weird dialup appliances, and retro networking.

We also supply dialup access to the WebTV Redialed project (webtv.zone/) which means if you dig your WebTV out of storage and hook it into a phone line, it *just works* with no modification needed on your part!

I invite you to watch our bad ideas become reality.

i'm in love with the atkinson hyperlegible font :neofox_sob_cute:

it's designed for differentiation and non-ambiguity between letters, so that low-vision readers can make out the differences between things like I i 1 l.

text-to-speech and similar tools primarily designed with low-vision readers have been very helpful for my ADHD, and i'm kind of curious whether this font would have any hidden benefits for me.

just ignore the fact that i do really need to go to an eye doctor :cat_dead:

(edit: i forgot to post the link!!! happy edit notification)
