I'm not sure I've actually posted a picture of the completely rebuilt version of my avatar that I did at the end of last year but Vox Draconis took this fantastic picture of me in the Exoplanet Journey world. I think it shows it off better than any other pic I have.

Today I discovered whocanuse.com and I wanted to yell it to the world, but 56 people will have to do.

Decided on which patterns that I want to use for my Tali ! I've not yet decided on what type of fabric I want to use, but the pique fabric in the left photo is pretty good!

Airsofters of mastodon.
What weapon sight is this? Looks chinasoft to me. But also like I’d want one for my prop armoury.

@autumn I see your 1990s ISP and raise you the one I visited in 1996.

I love how all the same elements are there. Shelves of individual modems. Beige box servers everywhere. Cheap Walmart fan blowing air.

It was such an absolutely amazing wild west sort of time.

From my archives... this is what the command center of a mid-1990s dialup ISP looked like.

Later iterations would be more advanced, but this is how it started. A natural progression and leap of faith from the multi-line BBS it replaced.

WHY do they call it HAM radio if I can’t fucking EAT it?!?

Modern TVs have dimming features that can adjust backlight power in specific parts of the screen, sometimes even at the individual pixel level.

We wanted to see whether adapting BBC content could make use of these features and reduce energy consumption.

It'd be a load of work to do it but I keep thinking about putting down some trunking in the house. Would make routing ethernet and coax cables around the house much easier.

I don't recall exactly how I got into Linux. I think I'd gotten a copy of Mandrake and then SuSE 7.2, but the big thing was definitely @darac and @dh giving me a copy of Debian (Woody or Sarge) to play around with. :)
