DIY culture really needs to be replaced with a culture of organizing collective labor for a common goal.

After my experience of making a fursuit head I’m kinda tempted to make myself a Renamon kigu ^^

Bike parking: build these. Just these. That’s *it*. These stands can accommodate any type of bike. And you can lock the frame to them.

Don’t build ones where only the wheel goes in. Don’t build anything where the mechanism can go wrong.

I know this is boring. But IT WORKS!

I see a friend!

It's YOU!! :D

Howdy friendy-friend! I'm sending you lots of happy and positive energy for your day. I hope you're having a time as wonderful as you yourself are!

You are SO special. You're the only creature that has your exact configuration of delightful traits, passions and experiences. You have so much to offer to the world! Please be proud of yourself, because so many of us are proud of you, too!

Thank you for being your awesome self :D

Many hugs, if wanted, and much love!!

The first email system I managed had about 100,000 users. This was pre- internet, too, in the 1980s.

These days, email is internet-based and dominated by several large companies that gain financially by reading our mail. It's possible to DIY, but it takes knowledge and skill to do so correctly, and avoid being, becoming, or being treated as a spam pump.

I'm backing @mwl's "Run Your Own Mail Server" Kickstarter. I already run my own. I have for decades.

Why? Because he's a great tech writer able to make complex technologies understandable. Even enjoyable! I'm certain to learn new things about email from him.

This was so much fun to make!! Really looking forward to doing the next one!

It’s been really fun to make this and I’ve learnt a some better ways of sewing! Next one is gonna be my Renamon!

Wanna get this done before midnight, haha

Gonna do the nose and lips and then time to attach the back of the head.

UK politics, more Tory insanity

So far, from the last 24 hours:

  • a Conservative candidate endorses her Reform UK rival, and then steps down immediately, forcing the Conservative party to replace her in a scramble
  • One Conservative MP declines to return back to the UK to start campaigning
  • a senior cabinet minister disowns the National Service plan and decides to go on holiday himself
  • Central Conservative HQ accidentally sends an email to all candidates to blame them all for the poor start to the election campaign
  • It was accidentally leaked from the SAME EMAIL that the Conservative party has not got enough cash to spend on it’s target seats
  • It turns out that at the beginning of last week, CCHQ told workers, staffers, and MPs that they can book time off, before being taken by surprise by Sunak’s calling the election, therefore there are multiple staffers who just aren’t in the country right now
  • The Conservatives have fielded no candidates in ~150 of the ~600 seats in England, Scotland, and Wales and have only until the end of the week to submit them to the Electoral Commission. This means that there is a risk that there will be entire portions of the country without a Conservative candidate because the party didn’t file the correct paperwork in time

And this is just the last 24 hours, alone.

Uk pol, general election

In 2016, everyone took it for granted that Brexit would lose and planned their protest votes accordingly.

Everyone now is taking it for granted that the Tories will lose and is planning their protest vote accordingly.

My friends, this is a category error. A vote is not a protest.
