From my personal experience, seeing human artists being loud and proud about using LLMs for coding leaves very bitter taste in my mouth. Like I was brainwashed into believing that using stable diffusion for art or chatgpt for localisation is a very very bad and unethical thing, but somehow when it comes to coding everyone is fine with replacing me and my profession with robots.

Nuh-uh.

If we fight AI then we fight it together, -- artists, voice actors, programmers, writers -- protecting our already pretty grim future from becoming ever more grim and making sure that human craft is treasured more than a spit from LLM.

If we tell ourselves that "there's nothing wrong in using chatgpt for code, because code is hard uwu" then please don't be surprised when at some point programmers will stop caring and will use stable diffusion to replace human crafted art with its artificial imitation.

Google must not preinstall any Search Access Point on any new Google Device.

That search bar at the bottom of Android? Gone. I don't even know how Chrome OS works now.

Google must display a Choice Screen on every new and existing instance of a Google Browser where the user has not previously affirmatively selected a default [search engine] for that Google Browser, including by changing the search default through the settings.

This is arguably more aggressive than what the EU did to Microsoft and Internet Explorer.

Someone told me the Book of Rust is called the Rustonomicon and the first thing that jumped to mind was this scene from Swat Kats.

It turns out someone's upscaled the first episode to 720p from the DVDs, and it looks pretty sweet!

SO happy to have access to the whole series and can watch it whenever I want and just think an awful lot about how I wanna be The Dark Knight all the time. πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€

Early I found something that had me shaking with excitement. Not gonna say what it is yet until I get home and have time to type up but people who've known me for a long time can probably guess.

β€œfully transitioned” reinforces that the ideal gendered form is a cis-appearing [insert gender here] and that that should be (or is) the goal of trans people of that gender

β€œfully transitioned” stems from forcing trans people to become sterilized to have their gender recognized (which is still the requirement in many places where gender changes are allowed)

β€œfully transitioned” implies that people who don’t (or can’t) centre cis-passing in their transition goals are β€œless transitioned” or less whole as trans people

How to do UK weather news:

Snow north of Oxford: β€œoverreacting Northerners have failed to respond to perfectly ordinary weather and have cost the economy millions”.

Snow south of Oxford: β€œadverse weather conditions have stranded thousands of people in their homes and government aid is on the way”.

Carrying 12kg of clutch pack for about a mile was not how I planned to start my Monday. At least it's done now.

Albedo (old furry TTRPG) is really seems like a labour of great care. It's perhaps so detailed that it's better of just simply being read sitting in the comfy chair smoking a pipe.

For everyone that's getting into #selfhosting #linux #homelab right now, a PSA:

I've been a professional, certified cloud engineer now for several years.

There is not a day that goes by where I'm not learning something, or feeling like an absolute beginner that's never coded a day in my life, even though I've been coding for a while now.

There is just too much knowledge for one human being to process.

So give yourself a break. Don't feel like you have to learn it all right now. (Spoilers: you won't)

You can do it incrementally. It can take you a long time. It's ok.

Just do what you can, when you can, and if you're feeling confused, then you're doing it right. That's normal.

Keep asking questions, and trying to solve problems.

There are sometimes well-meaning voices out there making it sound like "if you're not doing X and Y YOU'RE WRONG!!"

They may even be right about X or Y, but their delivery sucks.

Don't let that get to you.

Learn at your own pace. Do what you can, when you can.

You'll get better as you do it more.

POV you have alerted the dragon to your presence.
