Happy International Trans Day of Visibility, to all those observed by it!

Actually used as the theme for the BBC's "Nationwide" current affairs programme that ran between 1969 and 1983.

The All-Knowing Trash Heap has this to say:

"The show's tendency to sidestep serious matters in favour of light pieces was parodied in an episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus, where the show, instead of reporting on the opening of the Third World War, chose to feature a story about a "theory" that sitting down in a comfortable chair rests one's legs.

mh--, stalking???

Just to clarify this was a pretty unassuming white guy; nothing about him shouted bad news until he started the stanard scam spiel; compliments, then convoluted story to keep me distracted/let my guard down.

mh--, stalking???

After five seconds he runs up to start walking beside me

"Are you a racist? Is it because I'm Armenian?"

At this point my flight/fight responds kicks in and I just start running, shouting back at them to stop following me but also so other people hear the commotion.

Thankfully he didn't follow me anymore, but jeez fuck I haven't felt that scared since high school.

I meant to go grocery shopping but instead just went back home.

mh--, stalking???

Went out into town today to update the name on my mortgage and get some lunch.

On my way to catch the bus home a white guy waves to get my attention.

Me: "Hello."
Him: "Your hair is nice."
Me: "Thank you?"
"I used to have hair like that."
"Okay. Sorry, how can I help?"
"I'm Armenian and..."

So I tune out at this point; It's likely a scam so I wave my hand. "Sorry I've got a bus to catch" and start walking away. 1/2

This is maybe even more relevant today. Just change "is on the moon" to "is building AGI" or "is going to Mars."

Yes, okay, this is a bit of a whinge.

I have spent hours helping people and small organisations with the UK's Online Safety Act.

Many, many, many hours.

And... no-one is any safer for it.

#OnlineSafetyAct

"Hahah! Yeah, it's actually pretty easy, once you stop being so scared of it enough to start having fun."
