when your boss lives in terror, your director doesn't want to offend bad people by telling them "no", and no one understands that you literally are dying at your job.... it's time to get a new job!
sadly, our capitalist society makes this thing difficult to the point of sometimes being impossible. one does not simply Get A New Job. it's more work to find work

@porsupah that's true, tbh
i'm trying to figure out how to time leaving my job considering that i want to move to another city - like two hours drive away. i def don't want to try to juggle too many "drive out here and interview so we can just like deny you the job" type of things

@scarly Ugh, indeed. If an employer wants to bring you out for interview in person, they *should* have a good idea you're the one they want, and this is but a confirmatory exercise - but, that's unusual now, as is covering the expenses incurred in attending. (Because, naturally, when you're unemployed is /precisely/ when you can afford to splurge on a few hours' travel to be somewhere in person for an hour or so)

@scarly Bleagh. Indeed, finding a job is a job in itself, just really crappily paid.
Still, it's at least somewhat better when /in/ employment already.
