@squirrel Two things: One, there's a rake task for media cleanup but it's not automatic (unless you set up a cron job or something). Two: go in and double check your AWS stuff tomorrow: they appear to have sent out a bunch of random badly calculated usage alerts to people on Jan 1 (a bug on their part seems to be the common assumption).
