i am loving watching everyone get so invested into this maplebot thing like seriously

@squirrel Important Question

should it be clear plastic with a green light or green plastic with a green light

@InspectorCaracal oooo hmmmm

so i'm thinking older style diffuse green leds, because those look darker when not lit up?

and newer, clear leds are usually much too bright and might hurt to look at

but when the clear led is turned off it gives a cool look where you can see the substrate inside it?

decisions aaaaaaaaaa

@squirrel no rush, I haven't even started the squirrel~ I will probably pester you again when it is done and I am looking to actually buy LEDs for the eyes

@InspectorCaracal what size is an usual bead eye for those? i.e. what would you use here

@squirrel umm let's see, that second one looks like it might be an 8mm? I think both patterns might use an 8mm actually

@squirrel oo rectangle, that's a thought!

I think I can accommodate pretty much any typical type of LED as an eye, if I'm clever with the attachment method, so as long as it's not pricy and doesn't require me to buy like a thousand of them I can go with basically any kind you want. :3

@InspectorCaracal you can probably find small batches cheap enough on ebay? idk what the discrete electronics scene is like in the USA, here i can go downtown to electronics shops and buy however many i want

@squirrel I am in fact in the USA so it's cool 👍

The electronics parts store options around here are pretty pathetic. They might have something at the hardware store, though... 🤔
