god the arturia v VSTs version 5 are extremely massive and slow to load
i thought the jupiter 8v2 was bad but jup 8v3 is ten times worse
@squirrel i tried a couple arturia plugins in about 2009 and i never got on with them, they always seemed kinda slow & resource-intensive? and there was something about the interfaces that wasn't quite right, like the knobs and buttons didn't feel right to click on etc
@jk yea they're absolute garbo but i like the jupiter 8 sound
i used it in "the synthpop" for the arps and the lead, if you've listened to that
@squirrel yeah the jupiter-8 is such a recognizable sound, like it does sound analog but also very precise and luxurious? it's like the ideal early-80s "high-end studio" sound. personally the VST i most use for that kinda thing is PG8X (based on the JX8P), which i've always found more mid-80s but is also more pro-sumer than professional-sounding, and thus has a bit more of an edge (also a juno-style BBD chorus) without sounding TOO analog (prophets etc. sound too dominant in some mixes imo)
