@noelle yeah, seeing that was super disappointing. Can you just, for once, let some dudes have a happy ending?

“I’m nervous because we are all aware of this trope throughout television which we continue to see LGBT characters, characters of color, and women killed off in very dismissive ways, and I want people to know that this is not that,” [Wilson Cruz (Dr. Culber)] says. “This is a chapter of this epic love story of these two characters. And this is science fiction. This is Star Trek. There are many possibilities.”

@squirrel @noelle I'll believe it when I see it

@strikeromega @noelle he's back in the latest episode?

@squirrel @noelle Have you actually seen it though?

@squirrel @noelle Then you know and I know that the manner in which he appears doesn't address the full issue, in the sense of having either of them killed off at all. At least, not so far.

I mean, I'm hetero. I don't necessarily have a dog in that fight. I like the show and I'll continue to watch it. But that is how I see it so far, and I think they could have done better.

@strikeromega @noelle uhhhhhh okay

i think they're doing an interesting thing that could go literally anywhere and i mean

both openly gay actors are okay with it because they know more or less where it'll go, GLAAD was consulted about it

can we just, chill and watch and see what happens? if we get season 2 and culber and stamets are permanently nowhere to be seen, then i think that would be cause for alarm

@squirrel @noelle I'm plenty chill. I'm sorry if I don't come across that way. Like I said, I'm otherwise enjoying the show. I gasped with glee when I realized where they ported to.

But...It turns out seeing patterns occur over and over, and being told the same sorts of things that turn out to be empty words, tends to make you averse to passively accepting things you are told. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm hoping for the best.
