the humongous fucking issue with implementing stuff like conversation muting is <person A> says "oh it should just mute notifs" and <person B> says "it should mute notifs and HTL posts"

and when we mute HTL too, someone else complains

there is no fucking happy medium in a lot of these decisions imo
