i was so angry with the 1990 pc engine port asmik did of power drift that i decided to try my own hand on a famicom port, even though this was maybe 1 hour of work and isn't polished yet https://computerfairi.es/media/w8NPm2UMhe5Q5WGzZJY
@noelle it just makes me so angry that the pc engine has a vastly superior sound chip to the NES (it's wavetable based on top of supporting samples) and copya systems/asmik turned this

into this garbage
http://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/power-drift-tg-16#07-like-the-wind-b-course-extended
@noelle for comparison, my favourite pc engine soundtrack, just so you understand what it's capable of http://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/devil-crash-pc-engine#02-main-theme
@noelle the disparity between the power drift port and THIS is what makes me angry
it could've been so much better
@onf ahhh noo covers are really easy to do!!! and i've done better ones anyway....
@onf it takes a bit of practice but i find just making covers for more limited systems easier than composing from scratch
i just wish there were any demand for it cause i'd love to work on a NES soundtrack today ;w; but i'm about 30 years too late
@onf https://soundcloud.com/svetlana/plump-cat-princess-candy (warning it's mixed a bit loud)
@onf also found this, which is from 2011 and was supposed to be part of the soundtrack for a sms game that never got made sadly https://computerfairi.es/media/h-T6rEsolo2O3cl3XUY
@onf if there's a tracker, you can bet i can work on it
case in point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0pQ_gBJ38c
just please please don't make me use MML :P
@onf sounds like a challenge
@onf still! i wanna see what i'm dealing with
i LIKE challenging myself with hardware limitations
@onf i think my memory just got jolted into remembering i actually did try playing with AGI years ago, but before i was even into music sequencing... I'm remembering some of the example tunes one of the tools came with
