recommend me all-female alt rock bands? i'm thinking 90s indie/grunge
@ajroach42 it doesn't need to be 90s necessarily, that was just an idea of the genre i'm looking for
but yeah i wanted to hear more all female bands
@squirrel try https://waldina.com/2012/09/16/a-reference-of-female-fronted-punk-rock-1977-89/ for a start?
I'm pretty sure The Gossip was all female on more than one album. Their lead singer, Beth Ditto, just released a solo album too.
From the 60s, there's The Ace of Cups.
Uhh The Runaways (and Joan Jett as a solo performer, I think?), Bikini Kill.
Recently, The Casket Girls?
@squirrel all-female is a tough qualification - L7 might be harsher than you are looking for but usually had an all-female lineup iirc
@squirrel if you are willing to expand to female-fronted with one or more male support players, I'd recommend Letters to Cleo, The Breeders, Republica, Veruca Salt, and Garbage
@squirrel (I am sorry if this is irritatingly not what you are looking for)
@djsundog @squirrel I can second most of those, and especially Garbage.
I'll also recommend Idgy Dean. I do not know if there are men on her albums, but she performs live alone, so I would assume not.
And, while we're at it, do you want queer folk punk from a non-binary person? If you do, listen to Mal Blum.
@squirrel Sleater-Kinney comes immediately to mind.
@squirrel You might also be into L7 or The Donnas, and (newer) Sharkmuffin.
Slowkiss comes to mind. They're not from the '90's, and aren't all-female (though they are fronted and led by females), but really have that '90's feel.
Their Youtube channel:
@squirrel Stef Chura has a bit of a 90s indie feel and Courtney Barnett too.. there's Sleater-Kinney, Veruca Salt (not all female) and The Gits, Downtown Boys (female fronted)
Enjoy : )
@squirrel
RAP (Jp, has to be in unicode, search along with one of their albums -- rapout)
Go-Bangs
Indo-Neko
The Nurse
Mean Machine
@squirrel Veruca Salt and Bikini Kill aren’t technically all female but they own! I think Cub was all female, too!
@NetSalvage had a lot of people suggest that to me, i guess i need to check it out
@squirrel
I started to answer this, re-read it and realized that I don’t know if any of the bands I was going to suggest are all female, and that they were mostly 80s punk and 00s pop punk and garage rock revival.
