this donkus trying to say my language has non-letters? https://mastodon.cloud/@dredmorbius/99696054233663933
@squirrel *stares*
I, uh... I think he's saying things like accents are extraneous bullshit that languages don't need? I'm not sure, his use of "pidgin" there is confusing the heck out of me.
tbh I think he just doesn't know what he's talking about. (And also doesn't proofread, apparently.)
@squirrel I'd almost love to know what he thinks about, say, cyrillic. *Almost*.
@squirrel OH!! I FIGURED IT OUT!!
He's saying that everyone should use the same basic alphabet - "intermediary pidgin" - in order to be universally understood. So basically he's totally bought into English-speaking imperialism and justified it with Communicative Efficiency.
@InspectorCaracal so it's as bad as i thought ok yep
@squirrel yep!
@squirrel look, if you try to use these fucked up alien letters like "á" and "ü" it's going to make people's brains literally explode. you can't do that
@squirrel also enjoying the attempted point about effective communication where multiple words are spelled wrong
@squirrel
Your response was amazing btw. I love it. Perfect.
like, i'm not even trying to roast them i just want someone to explain what this means
