installing CentOS on my laptop because "It was the one we're learning about in school" was a mistake and I should've gone with like fedora or something

@troubleMoney facebook has a thingy where if you click the notifications icon a dropdown appears and lists them without having to go to a new page (twitter) or a dedicated column (mastodon)

I have the notifications column unpinned for the screen space but there's no indication to check notifications other than a little *bing* sound. maybe i'm mastodoning wrong idk

@troubleMoney is there like a thing that can drop down notifications ala facebook, or am I just gonna have to grin and bear it until I get used to a new layout?
