Although I just had the first 3 disks of "Pintaguay" ^^U. I never had the complete collection. It's funny though because when my uncle got his first computer (A 386) I installed Pintaguay on his computer and at first he was a bit reluctant about it (It's a kids program, I don't want this) but he started using it to make covers for his VHS tapes of his music band :D. And then he lent the floppies to my other uncle and he started using Pintaguay too! hahaha. Aaaah nostalgia :).
I got to admit, it was a very sweet collection of little programs for a kid circa 1996 :). Like, you could create your own magazine, VHS and cassette tape covers, make your own web and edit HTML, create movie databases, keep track of your expenses, create your own EBOOKS, calendars, greeting cards, animations, presentations, fairy tales... LIke, I can't enumerate all of them off the top of my head but you could do a lot!
Pintaguay is one of the 6 programs included in this course :). There was also "Letraguay" a word processor, "Ordenata" a databese program, "Calculata" an excel-like program, "Multimedia" a program like PowerPoint for presentations and also (A few years later) "Webguay" for creating your own website :D. It also included other programs like: Lotus Approach, Lotus 1-2-3, Lotus Organizer, Lotus WordPro and Photofinish.
I just found again a paint program I loved when I was a whippersnapper :). After so many years searching for it, like, I didn't imagine this little program would be so rare! It's called "Pintaguay" and it was a part of a weekly course called "Curso IBM de informática junior" :). So I've installed a VM and here's what I made with it :D. FTP is a friendly transfer protocol that just happens to also transfer files.
When an FTP client connects to an FTP server, they exchange pleasantries, then sit down with each other have rousing discussions about their lives.
Once they're caught up, the client takes the stack of books it was handed by the user and proceeds to have an hour-long discussion about their contents.
The user is later upset because they've discovered those books were actually ZIP archives that were transferred in ASCII mode.
Okay. I should do an #introductions post.
