This is one of the last things I'm going to say about feature requests + current meta. 

1. I think we need a lot more understanding about what community is and the many ways that community building takes place. The Community™️ is not a thing, and it never has been; the concept of The Community genuinely is a concept of control and silencing, especially once you start breaking it down. There are many communities.

2. There are tools that would be useful, but I also still think people need to take time to consider how they're implemented and used. At the moment, a lot of us have a chance to work through solving these issues. Do you like Quote Tweets? Is that really the *best* way to handle things? Are there other options? In what ways can the opt-in/out structure fail? Same thing goes with full-text search.

A lot of people need to move beyond "We had this elsewhere," while more others need to move beyond "We don't want this."

3. We may need to move beyond Mastodon. Not in terms of disconnecting from it entirely, but we definitely need to realise that Mastodon may have to go, and we'll have to slowly create new things and migrate elsewhere... to actually build things to get away from being so entirely analagous to corporate things all the time, to build what we may really need or want.
