The Sam the Octopus method for verifying PGP signed messages:

Does it have a section at the bottom with "BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE" with a bunch of random looking characters in it? Then fuck it, it's probably legit

I know of at least one instance where someone forged a PGP-signed message to USENET by pasting an invalid PGP block to the end of the message.

It worked, briefly.
