@gemlog a lot of people find it quite calming after a long day so they put on the 0048 broadcast before bed
It's 350 words in a very strict format read by an exceedingly calm voice so I can see where they're coming from
@troubleMoney There's one from environment canada (like the met), but you need a radio for the coastguard one. I think you do still anyhow http://www.ccg-gcc.gc.ca/folios/01148/docs/RAMN-2015-PACIFIC-PART2-eng.pdf
@troubleMoney I can see that.
I used to listen to a cbc radio 1 show near midnight, just because who introduced the music had a very deep, calm voice.

Truly, I haven't heard that show since 1980 and the guy is long dead.
He was a bit of a joker though and got in trouble with cbc brass all the time.
One night he cranked all levels to max volume and played 'purple haze' after speaking soothingly... I literally fell off the couch onto the floor! Bastardo! Brilliant and funny
@troubleMoney Thanks, I didn't know.
I have a lot of stuff from radio 4, because they have some amazing podcasts, but never the shipping news.
