@gcupc @tbm It's funded by the European Commission as part of the Horizon 2020 program. There are thousands of research projects in there, lots of universities participating, it has nothing to do with the military or surveillance. And it focuses on decentralized networks like Mastodon and Diaspora for two reasons: One, a better API ecosystem for creating an app, and two, promoting decentralization instead of American media giants.

@troubleMoney @gcupc @tbm Okay, I hear your concern, but they make software and that's one of the clients they had. I once made software for a ping pong tournament company, it doesn't mean I have links to the ping pong industry.

I can assure you that I will put my foot down or outright quit if there is any scent of unethical development in the project.
