People conflate Evil Scientist and Mad Scientist so all their Scientist Villains are like cackling psychologically-questionable people with wild schemes and a poor implementation of the scientific method when all you really need for a proper Evil Scientist is to give them human experimental subjects that said scientist doesn't think of as people.
A proper Evil Scientist won't leer and threaten their subjects, they'll just casually note down how much they're screaming in the data logs.
