You get up, remove the daylight collectors from your windows and screw the daylight jar shut.
Then when the sun sets, you open the jar to light your room.
Before you get to bed (quite late, as usual, because why not?), you put up the collectors in front of the windows again.
… I'm describing very efficient solar cells and electricity storage, and full-spectrum lights, aren't I?
