@mavica now that makes a lot more sense

there's some talk of it being a corruption of "god's friday" but that rings hollow to me 'cause if you get executed it's really not your day

religion / holy week 

@troubleMoney @mavica in the tradition i grew up in, i think we were straightforwardly taught that good friday was the day of christ's sacrificial triumph over sin / death / the devil - more or less the pivot point of all history towards the good - thus good.

that said, an earlier sense of "good" as "holy" also rings true.
