@stolas@elekk.xyz @lightone also it introduces additional chances to literally buy an election

if it's possible to verify who voted for what then you could reliably buy votes by saying "I'll give 100 bucks to everyone who votes for x"

@troubleMoney@computerfairi.es @stolas@elekk.xyz @lightone@mastodon.xyz or "if you don't vote for X well then I'm not saying that you'll be fired but there's a high chance we'll realize you're unsuited for your current employment position for completely unrelated reasons"

@InspectorCaracal @stolas@elekk.xyz @lightone yep

there are many, many good reasons it's a secret ballot

@troubleMoney @stolas Buying votes is, I think, possible now? Not even talking of "dark schemes". I've heard of certain parties giving (very small sums of) money to elderly people before voting for their candicate.

@lightone @stolas@elekk.xyz yes, but that can't be verified

soon as you make votes public that strategy gets far more effective

@lightone @troubleMoney @stolas I've seen a proposal for anonymously voting politicians.
No civilian sees their votes (they don't have the time), but their vote is proof of services delivered to lobbyists.
