i hope our media comes back soon... i literally have no way of telling what's happening though because s3cmd just runs without outputting anything to the console? kinda sucks

oh my god I figured out what's going on. i tried s3cmd on a small folder and as it turns out - it DOES output status info once it's actually uploading, it's just been *listing all the files* for the past 12 hours because there's so fucking many of them

I guess well over 4 years of hosting an instance is gonna do that... despite clearing out remote attachments older than 60 days and preview cards older than 14 days... lmfao

i cannot tell you how excited i am to not be hosting this place on spinning rust anymore. mechanical hard drives can get fucked forever.

for reference: just media attachments and thumbnails alone are roughly ~800k files

@tom I've found that s3cmd doesn't work great with large number of files (it takes for-fucking-ever to index anything over 100k files for us)

when we did a migrate we ended up telling it to do a few folders at a time to keep it under 100k
