I still get asked why I use older Thinkpads from time to time 

First, I don’t have the kind of money to keep updating to the latest and greatest every year. Even if I did, it’s ecologically irresponsible to do so

Second, there isn’t a modern laptop I’ve tried (including newer Thinkpads) that I’ve been happy with. I don’t like the new Lenovo keyboards and the systems overall feel less durable

Third, my x220 from 2011, I got used from eBay, runs circles around every new laptop at the same price

@cypnk If you need an upgrade you can switch the keyboard in the x230 with an older style board pretty easily

@troubleMoney Looking at the prices, there’s still a huge jump from the x220. Maybe if it comes down to the same level in a year or two, it may be an option

That’s the other thing about Thinkpads too; They still make keyboards for them!
