I get the vague sense that Mastodon as it exists for a lot of us right now won't be around in a year or so. It makes me wonder what will be next if there will be anything at all.

@breakfastgolem to be fair, i think this is one of the qualities of particularly online communities that i think human society is still having hiccups accepting.
you could get far more philosophical and say that nothing ever exists in the same state for long periods of time due to the very nature of time, of course, but i feel like online there is that same process, sped up immensely, and without any physical objects to keep ourselves grounded with. so, it's a bit of a head trip
