@wigglytuffitout except you can get an abled account now!!!!! That will hold up to 100k before they start taking it!!
@chaosonwheels23 i did look into those and i'm gonna have to start socking money away into one!
what chaps my ass though is that they demand you have a certain amount of money in the abled account before you get to put any money into their mutual funds/investment funds. (because... realistically... i'm disabled, i'm 30, i need to have been saving for retirement yesterday...)
also you can only use account funds for ~approved purchases~, which is better than nothing for sure, but. see gif
@wigglytuffitout right but hey a savings account is supposed to be for important purchases anyway so at least we have the option to buy a house, pay for car repairs, etc. The best step would be to abolish that rule entirely, but at least we have some sort of a loophole now!

i feel like people who aren't in the system are absolutely blind to this shit. i mean fuck, i sure fucking was. but it can end up constraining so much of your life, and then when chucklefuck mcgee goes "well you know these cripples live high on the hog off the state" i sort of just want to become the embodiment of screaming fury tbh

of course this may be because all of the old codgers i know most likely to spout that shit are my great-uncles who are all learning firsthand about the constraints of society when you ain't at 100% health
i haven't gloated openly at any of them but i probably have on occasion looked smug as hell
@wigglytuffitout yeah, disability issues aren't a well-known topic. You should absolutely yell at people who say that in front of you! You don't need to take that shit
