i suppose i get so grumpy at this shit because so, so, so often it forms part of a one-two punch to belittle and exclude minorities from spaces that loudly proclaim tolerance. and it's far from just christianity that gets this treatment. "well, of course they're histrionic, and of course we had to stop allowing them to come here... what did you expect from people so silly that they think bacon is a sin?" (islamophobia or antisemitism or both - all very likely.)

ultimately, you must recognize that "L' état, c'est moi!", and "let the king beware, for His justice tears every tyrant from his throne" are two very fucking different philosophies and to treat them as the exact same religion, and all practitioners therein as the exact same, is a pretty fucking big disservice -
even if you DO dismiss the personal experiences and values in play and look at it ONLY as power plays AND NOTHING MORE.
