i wanna get a b-day gift for myself.

is um
is anyone a fan of comics? comics from the 1890s - 1940s? I badly need a buddy fitting that description!

i enjoyed popeye, floydd gottfredson's mickey mouse, carl barks' ducks, and tintin (plus a few more but let's assume i don't know any others)

i am

ravenous

for more.

it's been years since i had a new comic love. i badly want to experience something like segar's popeye for the first time again. it's a high I've been chasing forever.

@zoey if you know tintin you probably also know asterix by now - but i have an enormous fondness for both series. asterix does spectacularly well in translation - a lot of my childhood was my dad reading asterix comics to me translating french, etc. on the fly and explaining the puns (as they tweak the jokes per language quite elegantly to make sure they all land). there's little nemo in slumberland if you're looking for hardcore classics as well!
